Dream House: Mudroom

The mudroom in the Tennessee farmhouse I grew up in was essential for shedding boots dirty from the barn and pastures, but here in suburbia, it would still be pretty nice to have one. Durable walls (board + batten, planks, or tongue-in-groove paneling painted semi-gloss) and floors, ample storage, and place to sit make for a perfect casual entry.

And a designated spot for the dog bed would be nice, too.

PS, I found all of these images on Pinterest. Follow me here!

I love these images! I also dream of having a mudroom one day.

I'm obsessed with brick floors right now. I love that third image. We don't have a mudroom in our house, so our kitchen serves as one (and a laundry room, and a play room, and a craft room...) Maybe I can talk Thomas into getting new floors when we redo it this summer. It's going to take a lot of convincing since we're planning on doing it ourselves.

We don't have a dog, but I could totally use that boot cubby in the last image :)

A mud room would be a welcome addition to our tiny English house! I would prefer it over a laundry room. I would love to have a place to put our wellies and rain coats...
