Day 649's sink inspiration

Remember this vanity? Spotted at Blackberry Farm by Granny Smith Green? And how I thought that I Wes and I could make it?

Here is further proof that it can be done, thanks to a Decorno reader who offered it as an alternative to pricey washstand-style vanities (love those, too). This is the Hollviken sink from Ikea, and a base built and stained by the architect who helped the homeowner with the renovation. I prefer the deeper apron and addition of the stone base on the version at Blackberry Farm, but the basic idea is the same.

For a stone remnant, I'd try a salvage yard. Locally, we have Southeastern Salvage, which specializes in close-out and liquidation building materials. What do you think? Worth the trouble?

  1. Yes it is worth the trouble! I think it looks great and is so unique. How is that bathroom coming, I don't remember a finished bathroom post.

  2. Well, my style is more like the second picture, with the contrasting colors, and modern feel.

I definitely think this is worth the trouble though. You'll be glad/relieved/proud if you did!

  4. Yes, worth the trouble. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

On another note- I have a good friend looking to get rid of a double mattress and box spring. Don't know what she would want for it. I didn't know what size you needed for your guest room....
