Day 856's favorite tree

One of my favorite trees is the Sugar Maple. In my opinion, they have some of the most spectacular fall foliage. Their chartreuse leaves turn bright yellow, then orange and more than any other leaves, they really seem to glow.

Sometimes parts of the tree will turn weeks behind the rest, giving the tree a sort of ombre effect. So beautiful!

There was a big one in the front yard of the Tennessee house I grew up in, and I can't help but feel nostalgic every time I see one. These Maples (bottom two photos) are outside Joan's beautiful farmhouse in New Hampshire. (Top photo from Veranda magazine.)

  1. They seem to make everything just glow outside. Living in New England they always are my favorite too.

  3. Hi Jennifer!! This is too funny... I clicked on your blog and am looking at your top post and think "that looks like my house!" but not really thinking it 'was' my house, just looked like it!!
They really are gorgeous, amazing trees- even the bark is pretty! At their peek you would walk through our house and see this golden 'glow' in every room!!
    Thank you for the mention!!

  4. so gorgeous! i didn't know what type of maple they were & thought all maples did that & got so excited because we have 3 huge maples at our house... unfortunately mine are silverleaf maples and pretty much just turn a little yellow & then shrivel up & fall off... not so pretty :(

  7. I had been enjoying my sugar maples trying to take them in before their gone...now all the stinkin' rain knocked all the glorious leaves off prematurely!
