Day 859's obsession of the week

Can you guess my favorite thing in this photo? The farmhouse? Or the giant flower corsage, maybe?

Actually, I've got my eyes on those boots. Hunter, to be exact. How often do I really need a serious pair of rubber boots?

Actually, not all that often, if I'm being honest. But they make me want to kick up my heels in a field of wildflowers, and they look killer with a floral dress.

And if they're good enough for Jimmy Choo ...

  1. So I will admit, that I at one time was desperate for a pair of rubber boots. And I, too, thought I would wear them MAYBE once a month, and it would be a waste of the cash I put down.

However, I was wrong. I wear those boots at least once a week! Any day that it rains, I tuck my jeans into them and feel free to walk wherever my feet take me without dodging puddles or worrying about if this grass 3 miles from my house is wet, too. I say pick a neutral color (black/brown/navy)and just go with it!

  2. I have the black original pair of long boots & I just ordered the black rubber clogs; they are pretty special too!
I wear them all year long, of course wearing them to the barn is a must!

  3. I bought a pair of knee high, hot pink wellies years ago when I lived in Boston. Anytime it rained, I was grinning like an idiot in my hot pink boots and I got so many compliments.

When I moved to Virginia, I got a pair of knee high, hunter green, Hunter wellies (to fit my less cosmopolitan city) and am so glad I got them.

They've started to "bloom" and I'm sort of proud of that...it means they're old and I'm not being easy on them. I know I could oil them and get the bloom off, but I like the fact that they don't look new. :)

I really didn't wear my rain boots often at all. In fact, they're outside collecting spiderwebs :(

  8. I just saw these on Oprah this week (on her shoes and bag episode) and fell in love. I live in a very rainy climate and having boots would be awesome.

  11. I have navy hunters and I love them so much and I wear them ALL THE TIME. I did have rain boots before (a cute pair from Target that split up the back seam one day while I was wearing them), but really, once you have them, you'll wear them all the time.

  12. I bought a pair of green Wellies from L.L. Bean a year ago. They are half the price and look just like Hunter's !

P.S. Your blog is wonderful. I get so many great decorating ideas from it!

  13. I have a pair of black rubber boots but somehow, they don't seem as fashionable as the ones in the photos. Mine usually have mud all over them and make this squash sound when I walk. : + xoTrina

  17. I have had my red Hunters for at least six years and wear them a lot more than I thought I would. In the South, you think it would be too hot in the middle of summer out in the garden in these, but just make sure you wear socks to keep your feet from sweating. And even if I ran into a snake, I wouldn't worry too much with these on. Also, awesome for running errands and yes-with a skirt or sundress!
