It's hydrangea season, which makes me think of this wonderful house.
And that house reminds me how much I love cedar shingles.
New, or weathered to gray, they are so lovely.
Especially when paired with the Stars and Stripes. Now if that doesn't say "summer," I don't know what will!

ReplyDeletewhat i'd give to have my red painted shingles unpainted! although i did hang the flag this past weekend and against the red it looked pretty good. but gray weathered shingles...ahhh.

*sigh* lovely. so i've been doing some research, and apparently there are some paints out there that can handle our vinyl siding trim! woop woop! it's no cedar shingles, but goodbye nasty orange brick!

Love love love cedar shingled houses!! We don't really see them down in Texas (so sad). But I love them, and that first picture would be like my dream house!

ReplyDeleteI really want to say how much I like your dog, seen in a previous post. Is she an Aussie? We have 4Aussies, 2 black tri's and 2 blue merles...love them! We live in Florida so it is nice for them to be in the a/c. We don't take them for a walk until 7 p.m. The rest of the time they rush out to go and run back in the house to lounge on the cool tile floor after lapping up bowls of water! What a life!

“New, or weathered to gray, they are so lovely.” - This is one of the qualities that I love about gray shingles. Whether new or weathered, they always have an elegant look. Homeowners, and their neighbors too, can definitely enjoy a classical curb appeal if they use this kind of shingles. Anyway, you've got great photos here, Jen. I hope you'll post more designs in your next posts.
