Day 704's giveaway!
As you know, we've been working on our guest bedroom, and -- as with any project -- the decision that really had me tossing and turning was choosing a paint color for the walls. In the end, I decided on Blue Shamrock by Olympic Paint, and had it mixed in their fabulous zero-VOC formula. I'm very pleased with the outcome (that's a little sneak peek, above), but man, what a pain choosing a paint color can be!
That's why I'm so thrilled to announce that the folks at Olympic have offered one of you two free gallons of zero-VOC paint in your choice of color and finish. To help you choose, they're including a Colors of Inspiration book, full of every color they offer. To enter for your chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post letting us know what you would do with the paint. Please enter by midnight EST on Friday, June 5 to be eligible. We'll draw a winner, and announce it on Monday. Good luck, and happy painting!
what a fabulous give away! I believe I would paint my sun room a deep color, maybe a navy. If the hubby said no, then I would paint my 3 year old daughters room green. She has been asking the last few months:)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh - love me some paint - my husband wants to paint the ceiling in his "man" room - so that is what we would do.
ReplyDeleteNicole~

What a cool promo idea!
ReplyDeleteWe are also newlyweds coming onto day 725 and are going to have a new home and a new baby very soon.
I'd use the paint as the first starting point for decorating our new place and setting the stage for a wonderful new chapter in our lives.
Love greens, yellows and earthy tones.
christina.attard@utoronto.ca
My fiance and I are painting several rooms in his house before we get married so this would come in very handy :)

I completly understand the trouble of choosing a paint color. Although, I think I have just about covered every wall in our house, the office and kitchen are the last to get done. But it is the office that is driving me NUTS. I am totally a color person. So what to choose? Chocolate walls would be dreamy, but with the wood desk and wood bookcases, I'm thinking too much brown. Right? Then there is the smokey blue color. Beautiful with wood. Or how about a rusty orange? The agony of it all...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would take one gallon to paint my small office a vibrant green And the other gallon to paint my hall.
Oh, I hope I win!!!
Also a newlywed here (on day 684).
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to paint my kitchen, so I'd use a gallon for that. And I hope they don't have to match because I really really want to paint a pattern on a focal wall in my living room so I'd use another gallon of paint for that.
Thanks to the nice people at Olympic for the giveaway!
:-)
I would use it to buy the (hopefully) perfect shade for the kitchen of our new house. I've started painting it twice only to find that the color just didn't look right. So the room is currently trimmed in two different colors. Needless to say, the hubs is less than impressed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway! We desperately need to repaint the kitchen- its bright green right now, and we're sick of it. We want to go with a cool blue, something like the Aqua Smoke or Blue Willow!
ReplyDeletemy bathroom and kicthen needs new paint so i would definetly use it for those rooms!
ReplyDeleteI need a bright, cheery color for our spare bedroom. It is currently decorated in black and white, but the walls are still a neutral beige color. I'm looking to spruce it up! Pick me, pick me!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI would paint our guest bedroom. I have been wanting to do it for a while, but my husband and I have had too many other things going on. This would be just the kick in the pants to get us moving!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun & unique giveaway!?! I feel as if I'm the painting queen right now - 5 rooms down, two left to go : - )
ReplyDeleteIf I was the lucky winner, I'd use these two gallons to paint the guest bathroom & something a bit less unconventional - the inside of my pantry. This is the first home we've lived in where we have a generous sized pantry (I can even house most of my cookbooks in it!) and I'd love to make it feel extra special : - )
Crossing my fingers,
Arlynn from Fleur De Licious
Fun!! I'd paint my new nursery. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd paint over the day-glow yellow (chosen by previous owners) in my kitchen. Not sure of the exact shade, but something a little less bright!
ReplyDeletemy bedroom needs some paint. big time.
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway!! I want to paint the master bedroom but haven't found the right paint.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I can't wait to see the rest of the room... I too would be working on my guest bedroom, making and painting a headboard for the bed! OR refinishing my Craigslist-find buffet that's in sad shape.
ReplyDeleteI would use it for my bedroom. I also have a table I'd like to paint.
ReplyDeleteI would use it to either paint the office or the kitchen! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI JUST picked up tester pots of paint for our living area/kitchen/stairwell and have been DYING to paint it since we moved in a year ago. With the summer so busy, it'd be great to have a the ability to paint AND live in our house at the same time. Hope I win!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! We just celebrated our second anniversary (yesterday!) I want to start this new year of marriage with a new master bedroom. I am searching for the perfect gray, and have tried 6 different samples. I need help!
ReplyDeleteI would re-paint our Study/Guest Room! My husband and I couldn't decide on a color so we just randomly picked one...and ended up with a sickening nurser blue color! Next time around, it will either be a cool gray-blue or perhaps a warm mocha latte!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I just bought a house and are set to close on July 31. So new paint would definitely come in handy for us. :)
ReplyDeletetribespider@yahoo.com
We could definitely use this paint to spruce up our bare white walls....yucky indusstrial white in military housing!!
ReplyDeleteI would finally finish the bathroom! I has horrid striped wallpaper that is falling off....Paint would be GREAT!
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen -- it's a dark gold tone and I've been dying to freshen it up. With summer just around the corner it would be great to liven it up with something lighter!
ReplyDeleteHow generous! I have a million ways to use all kinds of colors of paint. Narrowing it down to one or two of their fabulous colors would be difficult! :)
ReplyDeleteAmy
I would repaint my bedroom! While I was away at school my mom took over the room to use for sewing and ironing, and she changed the wall color. Now that I'm back for the summer I get to repaint.
ReplyDeleteThree of the walls are actually wood paneling. I know the thing to do nowadays is to paint over features like that, but I'm kind of in love with those walls. I'm considering painting them, though. My bedroom gets a lot of sunlight so the color options are almost limitless. I'm considering a green for some calm naturesque serenity. If I keep the wood, I'll probably feel like I'm in a tree, haha.
I would paint our bathroom or maybe the laundry room or possibly the office. Sooo many choices!
ReplyDeleteI would paint my scrapbook room in the house we are building!
ReplyDeleteGood giveaway! I would paint the walls of my renovating....(ed)bathroom! A work in progress!
ReplyDeleteLeslie
How fun! I'd use it to repaint our dining room (i chose a bad color and i need to repaint now)
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. The hubby and I are planning to do a makeover for our kitchen and your giveaway is perfect timing. We are currently looking for colors to repaint our kitchen. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to paint our kitchen cabinets, but haven't had time. If I had the paint I'd find the time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! I would paint my guest bedroom. It's the only room in the house that I haven't painted....
ReplyDeleteEasy. If I win, I would use the Zero-VOC paint for what is currently our office/dressing/guest room -- but will hopefully become a nursery this year. Hubs and I are gearing up for a first pregnancy hopefully this summer, and that future baby does NOT need chemicals and fumes in it's future nursery!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I have been agonizing over paint colors for weeks now! I feel your pain. I just moved into our campus housing with all white walls. I need paint for almost all of it! :-) I plan on painting the nursery blue, our bedroom a dark cream, and the living room... oh the living room... still trying to decide. I'd use the zero-voc paint in Caroline's room for sure!
ReplyDeleteI guess an awesome paint giveaway means it is time for me to show my face (name) on the blog and not just by email!
ReplyDeleteI would DEFINITELY use any and all free paint to add some color to the sad beige apartment walls I am surrounded by at home. I have been dreaming of a gray bedroom... but hubby in med school definitely keeps paints funds near $0. :)
Thanks for doing such an awesome giveaway!
I would love to use the paint to repaint the horrible soft yellow kitchen (with faux black and white tile squares) in the house my fiance' and I are closing on in October.
ReplyDeleteWe have scary old lady wallpaper in our kitchen that I would LOVE to get rid of. Some new Olympic paint would surely make my heart sing and be a springy step in the right direction!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad so many of you came out of hiding, and I'm loving hearing all of your plans!
ReplyDeleteJen, you are the bomb. Such a fun giveaway. Our bedroom needs painting--it's still the standard off-white that was there when we moved in!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat givaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually on the hunt for a new color for my guest bedroom. When we moved into our house in late November, we only had the choice of two color. I want a little variaty on each room and the guest bedroom is next!
My husband and I are redoing my office. We have not really picked colors yet, but I am thinking of something neutral. The office will be used for my budding wedding planning business. Once my business grows the office will be moved and hopefully been the future room for our baby in a year or so. I would like the color to work for both.
ReplyDeleteI would love to use the paint to paint the ceiling in my family room. It is now white and I have recently been inspired to paint it a color.
ReplyDeleteI would love to score some paint! We are in the process of buying our first home, so the timing is perfect!!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat give-away! I would use it to repaint my kitchen. Since I'm painting my floor green I wanted to go with a more neutral shade on the walls. Oh course I have yet to pick a color!
ReplyDeleteOhh! I would use it to paint my living room (or at least the part above the chair rail) dark gray. We just moved into a new house and I've been painting like crazy and the house stinks. I would LOVE to try the low-VOC stuff!
ReplyDeleteI'm a renter and my apartment has very sad, pale, plain walls, so I'd brighten up my space by adding cheery colors to my living and dining room! Oh color how I need you.
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway. I would repaint the kitchen. The hubs doesn't think it's necessary, but with free paint, he would be okay with it. =)
ReplyDeleteVery cool giveaway! What would not I repaint? If I had to pick one room it would be the office...
ReplyDeletevery cool giveaway! I would pick out the perfect color for our master bedroom and finally get rid of the "khaki pants" walls!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know that bathroom your husband uses every weekday morning? Yeah I'd probably paint that. Maybe he'd hurry up in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give away! I would use the paint to paint my chair and then paint behind my bookcases again, its time for a new color the one I have is getting old.
ReplyDeleteI would paint a bedroom in my new house that looks as if it hasn't been touched since the house was built 14 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI would paint our master bedroom. Right now, it's an unpleasant shade of yellow that doesn't match anything else in the room.
ReplyDeleteI do believe this might be the best giveaway ever! My office, which is the first room you see when you enter the front door, needs to be painted! Pronto!
ReplyDeleteOhhh...I would paint my lonely guestroom that needs some personality. It's looking awfully bland these days.
ReplyDeleteAwesome give away...by the way :)
Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteNew paint...hmmm...I have several diy ideas up my sleeve for our new home!!! Hope all is going well!
I absolutely love Olympic's Zero VOC paints! I just painted my kitchen, dining, family room and living room with "Quill" and Foyer with "Stormy Weather". If I won I would redo the bedrooms upstairs in another soothing color or maybe "Delicate White". (Just moved into my first home and busy redoing everything.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for this opportunity!
I have been dreaming of painting the open areas of my house a light yellow/cream. I hope I win!
ReplyDeletemarcierainey@yahoo.com
I would use it to repaint my guest bedroom and bath! I painted it last year, and it didn't go on the same color I wanted it to! Instead of being a really cool greyish blueish greenish teal color it ended up looking like a Tiffany's box. Not that Tiffany's isn't a lovely blue, just a bit bright for my bedroom and bathroom!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought my first house and am picking out paint colors. I love the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA so I'm looking at the beautiful colors there. I love the yellow that they use, so I would paint my bathroom yellow with gold stripes (It will look great-- I promise!)
ReplyDeletetara -- I totally understand. I've been trying to achieve the same color in the guest bedroom. I think I finally got it, though it definitely brightens up with artifical light at night!
ReplyDeleteI used Blue Shamrock by Olympic, BTW.
I would paint our master bedroom over again. We painted it our neutral that is in the rest of the house but for some reason the neutral looks kinda peach in that room. It bugs me to no end but we just painted it this year. If I could have some free paint it would motivate me to bite the bullet and re-paint :)
ReplyDeletei think i would paint tay's "big girl" room! can't wait to see the rest of your guest bedroom!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is finishing our bonus room above our garage for his AUBURN room. He is the biggest Auburn fan I know. He started on the room in November, determined to do everything himself except install the heating/air unit. I had a baby in January, so that slowed down his process just a bit. He finished mudding today and will start sanding tomorrow. We will need paint in just about a week! He is painting it navy, because of course it is an Auburn room!! john says War Eagle!
ReplyDeleteI would re-paint the room that we affectionately call "the service porch" in homage to the Brady Bunch. It is actually where we watch tv and use the computer. The color we chose ended up way too close to the kitchen color so we'd like to re-paint in a marine blue/gray.
ReplyDeleteOooh my goodness-my husband and I just bought our first house and even before we close at the end of this month, I'm having a bit of color anxiety! I could definitely put this giveaway to good use--awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway! I would finally paint my son's bedroom a beautiful blue!
ReplyDeleteAfter some water damage, I had to do some plaster repair. Ugh. And I do mean UGH! Now, for the fun part: Painting! Anything I want! The possibilities are endless!
ReplyDeletemary
awesome giveaway!!! we could use it!!! :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
If I were to acquire 2 gallons of paint, I would use one for our bathroom and one for our living/ dining room. Both rooms have small paintable areas but would leave a huge impact on the room. We've been in our home for nearly years now and we really need to get a leg up on this project. the peeling ceiling in the bath is gross and the sanded/ primed trim in the living/ dining room looks, well, unfinished.
ReplyDeletethank you for offering up this giveaway.

I need paint desperately. The front two rooms of our house were BRIGHT RED when we bought it and are super overwhelming. I'd love to paint them something soft and neutral!
ReplyDeleteI have tons to do with this paint. I am currently in the process of buying my first home so I have a whole house that needs the be painted not to mention some furniture I have picked up a long the way :)
