My heart is so heavy, I just couldn't bear to look at the last post any longer. You may know, I live in Birmingham, Alabama, just one of many communities devastated by tornadoes last week. Our home was spared by a few miles, Wes's parents' home was spared by a few city blocks, and for that we are thankful. But the need in our state (and others) is great, and goes far beyond the communities that have been covered well by the news stations. Thankfully, local response and compassion has also been great, and there are more ways to help than I can mention here (though please email me if you want some ideas!). I am always reminded about the old saying - that which does not kill us, does makes us stronger. My heart is also filled with joy to see how incredibly wonderful and giving the people of my home are. This has brought together a place so rich in generosity, may all of that outpouring of love and support continue in the days and weeks to come.

I'm so deeply saddened by the destruction in AL.. My young brother goes to UA in Tuscaloosa and the pictures he has sent me are heart breaking. Sending lots of prayers yalls way!

I'm glad y'all are okay. I'm in Madison county and my neighborhood wasn't hit too hard thankfully- our power was out for about a week I think, but I didn't care- I was just grateful we still had a house
