Day 787's random thought

Did your mom ever ask you if you were raised in barn?

If it were one of these barns, would that be such a bad thing?

I think I could be very happy in a barn. A pretty one, of course.

The next best thing would be a set of barn doors someplace unexpected. Like an office (like Erika's, above).

I might not even insist that they be old. This one (from Sunset), is new and is quite good-looking.

Speaking of barns, my dad has some lumber from a barn* that was torn down on a farm near his. I can tell he's saving it for the perfect project, but I'm trying to convince him that I need just one log to make a table like this one (spotted on the Pieces blog). I think I've mentioned this before.

*This barn was supposedly the last place Jesse James was seen in Tennessee. According to the tale, he bought the owner's two best horses. Is it just me, or would it be cool to sort of eat dinner with a legendary outlaw?! Or maybe I've just seen a few too many cowboy movies ...

yes, my mother has asked me that. yes, living in one of the those barns wouldn't be too bad or having any interior barn doors. and yes, eating dinner with an legendary outlaw would be fun!
i hope he shares some of the barn with you! :)

Loooove barn doors! Wait 'til you see what we did in our master bedroom! I haven't posted the most recent photos yet, but I'm sure you'll like it. A table from the barn wood is a great idea!!

Sliding barn doors are something of a obsession. Hope to one day use them in a project.

I DID live in a barn!! My parents bought a partially renovated dairy barn before I was born and finished it - converting the open hayloft (complete with basketball hoop) into 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a 2-story family room and loft. It is a great, open, sunny house. My husband and I are actually planning on taking it over when my parents decide it is simply too much house for them with no kiddos. :-)

My mother used to ask me that and still asks me that when I go home AND whats worse is that I find myself asking my BF the same thing! haha, its funny the things I swore were sooo dorky and not cool and that I would never say ever, come out of my mouth all the time.

And if I lived in any one of those barns, I would be very happy.

I was kind of raised in barn, well, just spent a lot of time at one. I have had horses for 20 years. I LOVE a good looking barn, and have always wanted to build one to live upstairs and have my boys downstairs. Great post!

one of my good friends from college actually lives in a barn that her husband and some other guys renovated themselves. Comes complete with a tin roof. I love the pictures she takes of her space!
