Day 676's thought

Apple crates (though perhaps these are more like barrels) as planters. Of course, I'd need something inside to hold the actual plant, but that could be inexpensive, and they wouldn't have to look good, or match.

But no fear- you will never see those in my yard. I saw somewhere that they are around $1500 each.

That is a wonderful idea that would be simple to execute and look fantastic! Often I think of apple crates for autumn, but I can see from your pictures that it would be great all year round.

Apple baskets or crates would work great in the right setting or with the right plant. These look like fall mums which is perfect. The second image uses, what appears to be, wine barrels which are also fabulous....I wonder what the rest of the yard looks like???
